Independence for Uche: braille note-taker

A braille note-taker would give Uche independence - we're $1,300 away.

Uche lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at the Lagos Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,300. His current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment Uche could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $1,300 goes: • braille note-taker: $1,200 • Fitting and training sessions: $15 • Delivery and set-up: $15 • First-year servicing plan: $70 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Olumide

    • Thinking of you, Olumide. Gave what I could, wish it was more

      • So sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Lagos.

        • Sending love. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in London this morning. Take care.

          • Praying for you, Olumide. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
