Independence for Tayo: cochlear implant processor upgrade
Tayo needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $500.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria767 views
I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at Lagos General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $500.
My current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $500 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $430
• Fitting and training sessions: $30
• Delivery and set-up: $25
• First-year servicing plan: $15
Glad we found this place.
Updates from Tayo
30% there. I made the first payment toward delivery and set-up. Thank you.
Small update. $65 so far, the plan for fitting and training sessions is now scheduled.

Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in Valencia but we're thinking of you.
you're not alone, Tayo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. All the best
Hope things get better soon. Hope you get there. It's not much but it's yours. All the best
sending strength, Tayo. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Lagos
