Suren lives with muscular dystrophy. The occupational therapist at the Johannesburg Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,000.
His current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment Suren could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• stair-climbing aid: $850
• Fitting and training sessions: $60
• Delivery and set-up: $30
• First-year servicing plan: $60
