I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at the Adama Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $800.
My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $800 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $750
• Fitting and training sessions: $20
• Delivery and set-up: $30
