I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Irapuato Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $200. My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $200 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $100 • Delivery and set-up: $30 • Fitting and training sessions: $70 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

  • You're not alone, Soledad. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Wish I lived closer to İzmir so I could bring a meal.

    • Thanks for sharing this, Soledad. Your post was clear and honest. After 26 years in social work I know how hard it is to ask for anything.

      • Stay strong, Soledad. Looking forward to the next update. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Blessings!
