Independence for Silas: adapted tricycle

An adapted tricycle would give Silas independence - we're $600 away.

Silas lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at Tacoma General Hospital has assessed him and recommended an adapted tricycle. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $600. His current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment Silas could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $600 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $350 • Delivery and set-up: $65 • Fitting and training sessions: $185 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Updates from Bennett

  1. Update from Tacoma: the plan for fitting and training sessions is now scheduled. We're at 7% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 3% now ($20). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward delivery and set-up.

  3. Update from Tacoma: I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. We're at 2% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  • Sending strength. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Cartagena.

    • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 15 years in construction I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Greetings from San Francisco
