Independence for Shireen: prosthetic leg
Help Shireen get a prosthetic leg so She can attend work interviews.
🇿🇦 Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa601 views
Shireen lives with profound hearing loss. The occupational therapist at the Johannesburg Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,650.
Her current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment Shireen could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $85
• First-year servicing plan: $75
• prosthetic leg: $1,490
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Updates from Wayne
Good news. Because of your gifts ($141 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
