Rekha lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Mumbai Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,600.
Her current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Rekha could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $35
• Delivery and set-up: $20
• First-year servicing plan: $45
