Independence for Oskar: cochlear implant processor upgrade
Oskar needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $9,050.

I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at Birmingham General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $9,050.
My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around him. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $9,050 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $8,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $130
• Delivery and set-up: $170
• First-year servicing plan: $250
Thanks for being kind about this.

Sending strength. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
You're not alone, Oskar. Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Birmingham
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Wish I lived closer to Winnipeg so I could bring a meal.
Hope it all works out, Oskar. This could happen to any of us. My husband and I read this together. All the best.
