Independence for Maxime: braille note-taker
Help Maxime get a braille note-taker so He can get to the shops and visit friends.
🇨🇦 Ontario, Canada2,448 views
Maxime lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,850.
His current equipment is 13 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Maxime could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $3,850 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $270
• Delivery and set-up: $185
• braille note-taker: $3,395
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Toronto.
Thinking of you and your family. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Take care!
so sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. All the best
You're not alone, Damien. Shared this with my family. After 9 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from New Delhi!
