Lorena lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Ciudad de México Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,800.
Her current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment Lorena could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
