Independence for Jabu: cochlear implant processor upgrade
A cochlear implant processor upgrade would give Jabu independence - we're $2,050 away.

Jabu lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at Ekurhuleni General Hospital has assessed him and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,050.
His current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Jabu could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,850
• Fitting and training sessions: $55
• Delivery and set-up: $35
• First-year servicing plan: $110
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
