Independence for Irene: stair-climbing aid
Irene needs a stair-climbing aid that the health system won't fund; the cost is $1,460.

I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at the Nairobi Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,460.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $1,460 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $55
• stair-climbing aid: $1,400
• Delivery and set-up: $5
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home
