I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at the Parramatta Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a specialist standing frame. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $8,050.
My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $8,050 goes:
• specialist standing frame: $7,750
• Delivery and set-up: $85
• First-year servicing plan: $215
