Independence for Elijah: stair-climbing aid
Elijah needs a stair-climbing aid that the health system will not fund; the cost is $700.
🇺🇸 Laredo, Texas, United States670 views
I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Laredo Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $700.
My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around him. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $270
• First-year servicing plan: $165
• Delivery and set-up: $265
Glad we found this place.
