Independence for Carmela: cochlear implant processor upgrade
Carmela needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $1,100.
🇵🇭 Philippines1,231 views
Carmela lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at the Quezon City Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,100.
Her current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment Carmela could speak with the people around her. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $55
• Fitting and training sessions: $30
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,015
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
