Independence for Atim: prosthetic leg
Atim needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $1,450.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya246 views
I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Nairobi Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,450.
My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $50
• First-year servicing plan: $35
• prosthetic leg: $1,365
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
