Apio lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Mukono Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a specialist standing frame. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $400.
Her current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment Apio could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $400 goes:
• specialist standing frame: $320
• Fitting and training sessions: $50
• Delivery and set-up: $10
• First-year servicing plan: $20
