Amaka lives with a rare neuromuscular condition. The occupational therapist at the Kano Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $400.
Her current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Amaka could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $400 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $300
• Fitting and training sessions: $45
• Delivery and set-up: $25
• First-year servicing plan: $30
