I live with muscular dystrophy. My occupational therapist at Austin General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,400. My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $7,400 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $270 • cochlear implant processor upgrade: $7,000 • Delivery and set-up: $130 Thank you so much. - Alexander
