Ifeanyi was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in July. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $750 short. my son has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since July. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ifeanyi struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Ifeanyi won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $750 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $310 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $210 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80 • Post-operative medication: $25 • Physiotherapy sessions: $75 • Travel and lodging for the family: $50 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Adaeze
