The hurricane hit the families of Marketplace Lane on 8 September. My home was one of 31 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $6,700 goes: • Food parcels for displaced families: $730 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,150 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $610 • Roofing sheets and timber: $4,210 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Jameson

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 14% funded and I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($361 in total) the first invoice got paid this week. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about food parcels for displaced families, advice is welcome too. Appreciate you taking the time.

Thinking of you and your family, Jameson. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Kyoto so I could bring a meal.

    • Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Stockholm

Hang in there, Jameson. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.

        • Stay strong. More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Durgapur but we're thinking of you.

          • shared it with a few friends. It's not much but it's yours. God bless.
