The house fire that spread across the block hit the families of Eastgate Lane on 30 November. My home was one of 59 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $290
• Food parcels for displaced families: $330
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $190
• Tools and labor for repairs: $290
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Rohit?
Thank you. If you're in Howrah I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Alcalá de Henares
