The house fire that spread across the block hit the Greenfield neighborhood on 28 February. My home was one of 47 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $650 goes:
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $90
• Food parcels for displaced families: $220
• Clean water and purification supplies: $70
• Tools and labor for repairs: $270
With deep gratitude,
Jide

Hope things get better soon, Jide. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Wudil.
Sending good thoughts, Jide. I hope things turn around soon.
Keep going. Great idea, hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to Los Angeles so I could bring a meal. Blessings.
So sorry you're going through this, Jide. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Munich
