The house fire that spread across the block damaged 55 homes in the Hillcrest neighborhood. We are raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The house fire that spread across the block hit the Hillcrest neighborhood on 22 August. My home was one of 55 damaged, and 10 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Tools and labor for repairs: $740
• Clean water and purification supplies: $290
• Food parcels for displaced families: $320
Glad we found this place.

you're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Newcastle upon Tyne.

You're not alone, Samuel. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
