The house fire that spread across the block hit the families of Lakeview Lane on 23 May. My home was one of 15 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $900 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $150 • Clean water and purification supplies: $185 • Roofing sheets and timber: $565 If you're reading this, thank you. - Babatunde

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Babatunde

    • Praying for you, Babatunde. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless

Hope things get better soon, Babatunde. More neighborhoods should do this. All the best.
