I'm caring for me, who's 93. After a fall and hip fracture Walid can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Walid desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Walid worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,950 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $230
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $330
• Part-time carer (six months): $3,390
