I'm caring for my father, who's 85. After a diagnosis of dementia Suranga can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Suranga desperately wants to stay at home. I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Suranga worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference. The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices. Where the $950 goes: • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $50 • Part-time carer (eight months): $845 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
