I'm caring for me, who's 94. After the death of his spouse Rashid can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Rashid desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Rashid worked all of his life as a schoolteacher, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $550 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $350
• Medication and prescriptions: $110
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $50
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $40
