Home care fund for Kariuki in Nairobi
Kariuki, 96, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $600 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 96. After the death of his spouse Kariuki can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Kariuki desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Kariuki worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $600 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $390
• Medication and prescriptions: $65
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $80
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $65
