I'm caring for my mother, who's 80. After a heart attack Eva can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Eva desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Eva worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,850 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $570
• Part-time carer (three months): $2,700
• Medication and prescriptions: $580
