Home care fund for Carmen in Detroit
Carmen, 76, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $3,000 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 76. After a fall and hip fracture Carmen can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Carmen desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Carmen worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $530
• Medication and prescriptions: $550
• Part-time carer (eight months): $1,920
