Hip replacement surgery for Yuki: covering what insurance won't
Yuki needs hip replacement surgery at Tokyo General Hospital and the family is $5,150 short of the hospital's estimate.

Yuki was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in August. The surgeon at Tokyo General Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,150 short.
my brother has been in and out of Tokyo General Hospital since August. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Yuki struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Yuki won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $5,150 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,800
• Post-operative medication: $230
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,450
• Travel and lodging for the family: $240
• Physiotherapy sessions: $430
