Hip replacement surgery for Rolando: covering what insurance won't
Rolando needs hip replacement surgery at Pasig Community Hospital and the family is $1,500 short of the hospital's estimate.

Rolando was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in April. The surgeon at Pasig Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,900, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,500 short.
my brother has been in and out of Pasig Community Hospital since April. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,900 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Rolando struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Rolando won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rolando!
Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $670. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
