Namukasa was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in February. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $450 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since February. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Namukasa struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Namukasa won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $450 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $90 • Post-operative medication: $55 • Travel and lodging for the family: $50 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $255 Thank you so much. - Hellen
