Hip replacement surgery for Maverick: covering what insurance won't

Maverick was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Derry Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $12,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $6,050 short.
my husband has been in and out of Derry Community Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $12,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Maverick struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Maverick won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
