Hip replacement surgery for Jade: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled hip replacement surgery in February is out of reach without help covering $6,050 of the cost.

In November I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Saint-Denis Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for February. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $12,000, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $6,050 short.
Doctors at Saint-Denis Regional Medical Center told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $12,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
