Hip replacement surgery for Emilia: covering what insurance won't
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Emilia was cleared for hip replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Emilia was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in July. The surgeon at Winnipeg University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $12,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,300 short.
my mother has been in and out of Winnipeg University Hospital since July. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $12,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Emilia struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Emilia won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
