Danielle was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in July. The surgeon at Birmingham Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,650, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $3,250 short. my sister has been in and out of Birmingham Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Danielle struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks.
