Brooks was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in May. The surgeon at Fort Worth Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,300 short. my brother has been in and out of Fort Worth Community Hospital since May. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Brooks struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Brooks won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
