In April I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Thiruvananthapuram University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,650, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $1,250 short.
Doctors at Thiruvananthapuram University Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,650 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Bhavani.
Surgeon and anesthesia fees is $680 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
