Hip replacement surgery for Bennett: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled hip replacement surgery in October is out of reach without help covering $6,000 of the cost.

Bennett was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in July. The surgeon at Austin Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $6,000 short.
my father has been in and out of Austin Community Hospital since July. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Bennett struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Bennett won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
