Zanele was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Soweto Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,400 short.

While we wait, Zanele struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
