Yusuf was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in June. The surgeon at Giza Community Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,050 short. my husband has been in and out of Giza Community Hospital since June. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find. While we wait, Yusuf struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
