Wegayehu was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in September. The surgeon at Addis Ababa Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $750 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Addis Ababa Community Hospital since September. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Wegayehu struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Wegayehu won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Wegayehu.
Surgeon and anesthesia fees is $370 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.
