Help Wambui pay for spinal decompression surgery at Jinja Orthopedic Institute
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in December is out of reach without help covering $650 of the cost.

Wambui was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Jinja Orthopedic Institute recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $870, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $650 short.
my mother has been in and out of Jinja Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $870 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Wambui struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Wambui won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $650 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $25
• Physiotherapy sessions: $100
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $525
Glad we found this place.

How is Wambui doing now?
Wishing you peace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Ikeja
Best of luck, Bakari. Hope this works out for you. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Kingston.
Thinking of you, Bakari. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
