Since a house fire in January, I'm now raising two young children on my own. I work as a school kitchen assistant, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries. I'm retraining as a pharmacy technician in the evenings, which will triple my income by April, but I need to bridge the gap until then. Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them. Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward. Money goes toward rent, groceries, after-school care and the cost of my course. I'll give a monthly update with receipts. Where the $350 goes: • Rent top-up: $130 • Childcare and after-school care: $70 • Groceries and school meals: $95 • Course fees and exam costs: $55 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from Wafula

  1. Quick update: $133 raised so far (38%). I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 23% now ($80). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.

  • Sending good thoughts. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Fresno.

      • So sorry you're going through this, Wafula. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. God bless.
