Vinícius was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Rio de Janeiro Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,550, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,800 short.
my father has been in and out of Rio de Janeiro Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Vinícius struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Vinícius won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Vinícius.
It's all in the list in the story. surgeon and anesthesia fees is the big one at $640, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
