Vikas was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in July. The surgeon at Mumbai University Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $290, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $200 short.
my father has been in and out of Mumbai University Hospital since July. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $290 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Vikas struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Vikas won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
