Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Wednesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 382 each week. Donations have dropped by about 39% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kazan market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $550 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $155 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $345 With deep gratitude, Vera

  • Stay strong, Vera. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Kazan

    • Stay strong. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
